Buying a Printer

I don't do a lot of printing but am looking at a HP PSC 1410 All in one as it will do what I need to do. My wife paints and would like to scan a picture or photo now and then to use in painting and we need to primt a letter now and then. Also it is about the right size. Simply Mepis is my primary system so am wondering if anyone running Mepis is sucessfully using this printer.Thamks for any info. Maury

Hi,

I can tell you that HP printers are pretty well supported in Linux (I use one myself). Drivers for the printer are generally self contained in most modern distrobutions. However, you will need to study the product more carefully if it is an all-in-one (printer-scanner-copier). You will need separate drivers for the printer and scanner. Getting the scanner to work, as I understand it, is a little more difficult (though not impossible.) I have tried it with a Lexmark all-in-one and the effort was futile as it never it did work.

Hope this helps.

Bob
