Hey all. After the recent amount of complaints about ramdisk and kernel errors with Mandrake 10, I have decided to post this question, along with a possible solution.

First off, is it possible to install a barebone version of Mandrake (9.2) and then do a complete manual upgrade of it (updating everything one by one?)

Second, what you see above is a question/solution. I have almost done what I have described above when my laptop gave me an error about a missing kernel. Strangely enough, that so-called "missing kernel" was on the first install CD. I haven't yet chacked out the Checksum, but I will eventually. Thanks!

I've installed MDk10 on 21 different machines. From a P1-200Mhz with 64M to 3 Dell P4 2.8G with 1 gig of ram The only problem I'am having is a single system with SB Audigy Audio card and when a audio cd is put in it sound like fingernails on a blackboard. Otherwise all 21 are very stable and running fine.
