I've installed rpm "beep-1.2.2-4mdk.i586.rpm", but nothing changed. The PC Speaker volume is max (in KMix). When I press Ctrl-G in Konsole, bell sign appears on the Tab bar, but I can't hear it. I'd like to use beep for system notifications, cause I can hear it while using other apps working with sound.

I'm not using Mandrake but I think linux's pretty similar in any distro...
there's no beep after I upgraded the kernel to 2.6.3...!
Also, my sound card works but it keeps giving me the error message:
"The via82cxxx_audio driver could not be loaded. This soundcard may not be compatible with Red hat Linux." When I click OK, it plays the sound test music! No errors with my RHL8...
