User mixed up- can't login
I just upgraded (fresh install) from MDK 10.1 to Mandriva LE2005. In doing so, the user's names got mixed up somehow so now I can't login. The user names and passwords got mixed up so that user A has user B's password and user B does not exist anymore, though his home directory and files are still there (viewable when in root). My question is how can I get my (user B) name back so that I can login again and read my email, etc? All of my files are intact but when I get to the graphical login, my name is not recognized there so I can't login. If I use KDE (as user A) to look up the users, my name is not listed. But when in CLI root, my name and directory are listed. What can I do to login again? I thought of copying all of my files (when in root) from user B to user A and becoming user A, but there must be a simpler way to fix this; some configuration change somewhere? Is there a simple solution to this problem?
Thanks,
Wayne
