URPMI Mplayer - Safe to FORCE?
Should I force this installation of Mplayer?
It looks like the only thing conflicting are the codecs, which I don't think is a big deal, right?
[root@localhost ken]# urpmi mplayer

if the version numbers are reliable, I would uninstall the existing codecs as you're trying to install newer ones
alternatively,
cd to the place where the rpm's for mplayer are and use the
rpm -Uvh command, as this means Upgrade not Install and it should over write the existing codecs with the new ones.
You could install just the codecs with the -U option and use urpmi for the rest.

Thanks for the suggestion of uninstalling the codecs! it works.
So I uninstalled the mplayer-codecs-lite then went back to my URPMI and was able to install mplayer 1.0pre5. However, how can I check what version of mplayer I have? I just want to make sure I have 1.0pre5.
