I have installed Mandrake Linux 10 Community and have no start-menu except for logout, lock screen, run command, recent documents and find. The 'all applications' section is empty. I tried to run update-menus -v as a regular user and root, but that did not help. This occur on my laptop. I had the same problem on my desktop, but running update-menus -v solved it.
It stops when it tries to setup up menus for Gnome I think. I have pasted the output below. Sorry, but I could not find a way to attach a file.
Hope someone can help me with this one. I'm a totally stuck newbie.
Kindly Regards,
Bjørn Kr. Sveinsvoll

Try going in to menueditor(right click menu icon). Click action->modify menu style. Choose all applications menu, click OK. Save it.
If that doesn't work go file->reload user config, save.
Lastly try file->reload system menu
It did not work right out of the box, but you gave me an idea with the menueditor. I launched Menudrake and was able to see the command for Mandrake Update. Then I launched it, updated all files in list and voila I got a menu I don't know, but maybe I did something wrong during the installation process. Anyway I'm up and running now.
