I haven't used KDE or Mandrake in ages, but the first thing I would do is find out what command that entry in the menu is running and run it manually in a terminal. Chances are that it's outputting some relevant information to STDOUT or STDERR that you can't see when running via the menu.

Well, I can't give you specific instructions as I don't use KDE. I imagine you'd be looking for either a menu editor or some sort of properties menu-item when right-clicking the control center. Just look around, I'm sure you'll find something.

anyway I have done it in the console

and the answer after (trying) to launch cmm

"cannot get info for device at (0.0.0.0) at usr/lib/libDrackX/detect.devices.pr line 295"

it seems to be a conflict between to Kernel version, but this is my first install !!!

Mandrake Control Center command line - drakconf

For the record:
the shell command for Mandrake Control Center is 'drakconf'

Not sure where it's located, prob in /usr/bin ?
but typing
whereis drakconf
should give a list of directories to try.

If you set up your dependencies, just run urpmi drakconf in Konsole.
