tune2fs & fsck

When tune2fs decides that it is time to check the file system, what command line switches does it use when executing fsck?

(That's another inconsistency I've noticed, the man page for tune2fs indicates that e2fsck is used but the syslog indicates that fsck is being invoked by tune2fs. What I'm I missing here?)

Moreover, if fsck/e2fsck encounters a problem with the file system when invoked by tune2fs, will user intervention be necessary? (e.g. is -p used?) My system does not have a front end so that will be impossible.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Hey Hey What are you talking about!
tune2fs doesn't calls e2fsck or fsck at all. It sets parameters in the ext2fs or ext3 filesystem directly. e2fsck checks these parameters from filesystem and does accordingly. And fsck is just a front-end for e2fsck and many others.

Well my newbie status has been confirmed but I think my questions remain. Can e2fsck be run w/o user intervention (e.g. -p or -y) in this manner? If so, how?

Again, I have no front end to my system and I'm trying to determine if enabling file system check via tune2fs is feasible. It makes no sense to me to enable this check if there is a potential that the system will be waiting for user intervention that will never happen.
