Question screen on Mandriva 07 messed up


can some1 tell me how to fix that thing were its like colored lines r all over the screen and everything is stretched..... if u know what i mean.... i think its the color mode but idk i have a 32bto pros if that helps....

EDIT: my graphics card is ati, and im using virtual pc.... im going to try the real thing for the first time, do i neeed to partition for a live cd?

Yes, Linux needs its own partition for an install, but a live cd does not need a partition because it is "live." So, as long as you run live, you are not installing and you do not need to partition anything. A live cd would be better than virtual, although an actual installation is best.

what file format should i make the linux partition? and should it be logical or primary?

I make all of my Linux partitions as extended in a new partition, with the windows system in its own primary (if dual boot on one drive). would use a journaling file system, like ext3 or reiser. In the event of a catastrophie, the journal makes recovery a snap, as opposed to rebuilding the file structure.
