Question Saitek P150 USB joypad and Mandrake 10 problems

Hello, I recently installed Mandrake 10. I done a clean install and so far everything is going great except for getting my joypad to work. I was previously running mandrake 9.1 and the joypad worked flawlessly. The system recognizes the joypad, and I can get output from it. I have done modprobe joydev hid and analog, but none of these make a difference I do believe that the necessary modules are being loaded at boot because the pad is recognized without modrobing anything. When I go to use a game that uses the joypad is when I have a problem. If the joypad is plugged in the game will not start. Take tux racer for instance. I can play tux racer all I want and everything works great as long as I do not have the joypad plugged in to the usb port. If I plug the pad in the game will not start, and if I plug it in after I start the game it freezes. The game will attempt to start but then closes immediately. This is true with all games and emulators that I have tried that can use a joypad. If the game does not use a joypad then it works great. I have tried all of the basic stuff, and can't figure out what is going on with this. If anyone has any ideas as to what is going wrong please post. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have exactly the same problem. I am using 10.1 beta 1 with a kernel I compiled myself (2.6.8.1-3mdkcustom) at the moment and I cannot get joydev to accept input. It recognises the device alright. To confirm the hardware was working I tried it on my family's mandrake 10.0 box - a P2 I set up with a 2.4 kernel (modem software wouldn't compile under 2.6) and it worked fine - bizarre.

The reason Tuxracer (and a few others like Neverball) crash is an SDL problem but I'm not sure exactly what it is. I can confirm that plugging out the joypad does indeed allow these games to run.

I would also appreciate any help on these issues.
