Problems with items stuck in Mandriva 2007 install/Update list in MCC

I got the bright idea to install all of the mandriva 2007 updates. It got stuck on one file which could not be installed and subsequently whenever I try to download or update a program, it says I have approx 500 mb of programs to install first. I went to var/cache/urpmi/rpm and deleted all the files that I had intended to update. Wowever when I try to run the Software media manager, its says that the packages database is locked by another program.

Not sure what to do next. Any ideas would be appreciated

To unlock the RPM database, in a console as root run:
# rm -f "/var/lib/urpmi/.LOCK"
# rm -f "/var/lib/urpmi/.RPMLOCK"

Be sure that the auto check program is not running. If it is, there is a little icon in the tray, near the clock. (KDE) If it is running, close it, and that will unlock the database.

If a package is holding up updates, then unselect the package, run updates, and try again. I would also suggest updating your software sources before running again.
