I have a similar problem after installing Mandrake 10; unable to print to my USB printer - it seems to be something to do with the usblp setup, since the printer was detected correctly on installation and shows up in harddrake's hardware list, but I haven't yet figured out a solotion. Anyone else got some hints?

I had a problem with printing.. I couldn't print from K-applications at all, but Opera and Gimp worked for example. I downloaded the source of cups and compiled it. Now it works You should maybe try that.

The solution in my case turned out to be relatively simple. It seems the Mandrake 10 installation detected the printer correctly, but messed up the USB printer port configuration (this seems to be a fairly common occurrence, judging by my search results on the topic). All I had to do was go into Mandrake Control Centre printer configuration, remove the printer, start the add printer wizard, turn off auto detection and manually enter the port URI (usb://dev/usb/lp0).
