Opening tar.gz2 files help please

Ok, I can't find anything on how to open a tar.gz2 file and it's getting to be very frustrating. They say "open it just like you would a zip file", well how do you open it like it's a zip file? If somebody can help me I'd greatly appreciate it... Thanks.

If it's a .tar.gz or .tgz, "tar zxvf filename", if it's a .tar.bz2, "tar jxvf filename". See the man page for tar for info about the options used.
