now, that pppoe makes me worry
ok maybe i'm lack of understanding how mandrake works, but this makes me so nervous that i feel like i'm running M$ windoze (that is when i think certain files should be doing certain things, but they are not)
mandrake comes with pppoe files, these files allow u setup and dail DSL services. supposingly, one should login as root, and do adsl-setup to setup acct information, then when they wanna go on the internet, they should be doing "adsl-start" , sometimes maybe "adsl-connect"
i've setup my dsl login from mandrake control center (GUI interfact), when i wanna log on the internet, i have to go to mandrake control - internet - connect
now, ideally... i should be able to log on to the net by using root, using adsl-start as well, well.... No. it won't let me sign in from command line, i have to do it through GUI, when i do adsl-start, it goes .........TIME OUT
you would think that maybe mandrake is using some othe files, and not using the pppoe program right? well, check this out, while i'm online, if log in as root in command line, and type: adsl-stop, the internet will be disconnected.
this kindda freaks me out because it is not behave how i expected to be, would anyone here knows what the mandrake control -internet connection GUI is doing while i'm attempt to connec to the net?
i wanna find that file so if i feel wanna log on the net, i can do in command line, and not force to do on GUI...
thank you
