No wireless with 2008.1 with BCM43xx card

I had the wireless network running, it was configured on eth0 by the installation. I then went to a WiFi free area and was using the lan through eth1. When I went back to Wifi I could not reconfigure the card, MCC reported a driver problem. The output of lspci is,

Check to see if the wireless driver is loading by running as root:

# lsmod

IIRC the driver should be bcm43xx. Just post the output here.

Also, you have and entry for wlan0 in your iwconfig output. That would indicate to me that you are using ndiswrapper instead of the open source bcm43xx driver.

Thanks,kilgoretrout, output posted below, BTW the error reported by MCC is "Unable to find network interface for selected device(using bcm43xx driver)" This tends to support your theory. Darndest thing, it had been working for a month.

PS. ndiswrapper has not been installed. I went down that track on my first attempt with 2008.1 and it did not work so I uninstalled it and went back to bcm43xx fwcutter. This had been working perfectly.

Try removing and reloading the bcm43xx driver by running as root:

# rmmod bcm43xx
# modprobe bcm43xx

and then check for wireless extensions with:

# iwconfig

Also, post the output of:

$ cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1

That's the configuration file for eth1. I suspect it's configured to load on boot which may be interfering with eth0.

Change this line:

ONBOOT=yes

to this:

ONBOOT=no

Reboot and see if your wireless card works. You need to be root to do that so run in a console:

$ kdesu kwrite /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1

and enter the root password when prompted. Make the above edit, save the change and reboot.

If that doesn't work, go into mcc and remove both eth1 and eth0 and reconfigure your wireless card.
