Hey guys. I'm quite the linux newbie and have tried many distros of which i do not like. I have a great feeling that Mandrake 10.1 Offical will be the right distro for me but can't get it too install. (Heres the problem):
Put Mandrake cd1 into my dvdrom then it boots up and when i choose the installation a message will come up .. (something like) Linux cannot detect your dvdrom drivers, then a list comes up off Dvd-Roms... =(.. i also tried it on my Cdrw-rom, Didn't work they're either, I also tried the Mandrake 10.1 Offical DVD and i did not have success with that either. I let my friend borrow the dvd of it and he installed it sucessfully without and problems what so ever.
Hi,
What DVD drive do you have? I know that MDK10.1 found my plextor Px 708a DVD drive OK and installed..Maybe you can borrow your friends drive just for the install..
Goodluck,

Hi again,
Im not sure, but if you can get mdk10.1 installed with a cdrom instead of a dvd, i would guess that you can later change the drives and add the pasckages you need for DVD's.. Keep trying because IMHO mdk is a great distro..I do not have Suse 9.1 but I do have Suise 9.0 and MDK beats that one (in my opinion)..
Goodluck,
jolphil
