Networking issue

I have imaged my box and restored it to a virtual machine using VM-ware server, everything is going ok, it came up and detected all of the new hardware, and it see's the "generic" AMD card that vmware uses.

screen shot here http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/9610/screen16wk.jpg

It askes me if I want to run the config tool and I answer yes, go through all of the settings and at the end it says it wants to restart the networking services to apply the changes and I say yes, then I get an error bringing up eth0.

When I log in and check ifconfig, it shows eth0 there (also there should be a eth0:1) but with no ip information attached to it,

If I assign a ip to it with ifconfig and restart it losses it.

But if I do a dhcp request from eth0 it works????
reboot then nothing?

if I do lspci, I can see it
Code:
00:11.0 Ethernet controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] 79c970 [PCnet32 LANCE]
(rev 10)
Subsystem: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] 79c970 [PCnet32 LANCE]
Flags : bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 18
       I/O ports at 1080 [size=128]
Expansion ROM at <unassigned. [disabled] [size=64k]
I have checked all of my networking information in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ and eth0 and eth0:1 are there and listed with the right static IP settings,

I am not a Madriva expert, so I hope someone can tell me what I am missing.
Thanks!
