Need help playing movie DVD's.

When I insert a DVD, a box opens asking what I want to do with it. There is nothing about playing the DVD.

Kmplayer, Movie Player and Xine are installed but none of them work.

What is needed to get the DVD to open and play?

At a minimum you need to install libdvdcss.

I also have issues with kmplayer as d1l2w3. The thread being that of kmplayer, i did not want to open a new thread. I have used easyurpmi to get the packages installed, though kmplayer still comes with both XINE and MPLAYER not running. I use Mandriva(Spring) as my distro. Any help would be much appreciated.Pls let me know if i need to provide anything more specific to get kmplayer running. Tx

To solve the problem here, I went to SoS and installed LinDVD. To get this done, I had to set up the SoS repositories for urpmi, but you could probably just download the package and install it (can not remember if there are any dependencies), so be forewarned. LinDVD is in the Contrib repository. After installing LinDVD, I had to make a link from /usr/share/lindvd/libivimandriva.so to /usr/lib/ to make it work correctly

HTH,

Thank you so much for the info.
I went to rpm.pbone.net and downloaded lindvd from there.
I did not have to create a link.
It just worked.

thanks again,
dlw
