Been running Mandrake 9.1 for 2 days now. Successfully configured my home network connections (ics), and my sound card drivers (using alsa).
My "new" problem...
Mandrake has automatically mounted all of my harddrives (but made them read-only to regular users). In the Mandrake Cofiguration (logged in as root), i've gave "read" access to regular users.
(edit) I did not edit FSTAB to mount these drives. i just the configuration tool.
The 2 drives are now mounted (on my desktop) and accessible to me.
(2 harddrives: 1 is NTFS (90gb), the other is FAT32 (60gb). I have dual booted with Mandrake 9.1 and WindowsXP. These are BOTH "logical" drives).
I can get into the mounted drive with no problem and see the subdirectorys within. When i try to enter the subdirectory, KDE and Gnome both freeze up. (gnome gives me the option to "kill" the window, while KDE just hangs there until i reboot. When rebooting, i get an error that the drives were not unmounted correctly and mandrake runs a "check disc" on it...).
What can be causing the drives to crash Mandrake?
AMD XP 2600 (2.06GHZ)
512mb DDR Ram
THANKS.
