Massive bug in MCC

On my machine, Mandrake Control Center is so broken is so broken that it makes the distro almost unusable.

I have had this on 2 different machines, with mandrake 8 through 9.0 and it is super frustrating.

I set up my network cards, it detects them fine and I select a dhcp setting for my eth0. I configure my machine for internet sharing and its really sweet, accept....

The program erases all the network card settings for Eth1, replaces them with defaults that I've never seen before and dont work, and takes my machine off the network. It accepts some really stupid DHCP as my machine hostname (its 20 odd characters long and not listed in my resolv.conf).

This is not just a bug for me, its a deal breaker. I cannot deploy a system whose configuration routines screw things up.

Is there anything I can do??? a patch etc....

much appreciated.

File it as a bug at Mandrake?

Cheers.

Yep! had the same problem. Got my dhcp set up and ran the MCC and my dhcp stop working. What I did was setup the dhcp got it working the way I wanted then I copy'd the dhcpd.conf file out of etc. Then I ran the MCC control center to get internet sharing and then copy'd the conf file back into the etc and restarted dhcpd. Everything worked fine after that.

Yes, I've had the same problems with the MCC and dhcp. This was when i was very new, but a reinstall made everything work right.
I guess this really is a bug. Courtrrb's suggestion is good, and i'd consider filing a report at Mandrake's Bugzilla.
