Mandriva 2007 64 Control Center Problem

For some reason, after I updated the software for Day Light savings time, now when I open the install software, update software etc portion of Control Center, I find many of the software entries already checked.

In fact, when I start "install software" it immediately starts a window to install something.

I can't get rid of the checked items by clicking on them.

It appears control center is bolluxed up big time.

Any thoughts. I think I will try urpmi for now.

Ok, got this when I tried to install Spanish support for OpenOffice

[root@localhost jon]# urpmi openoffice.org-l10n-es
Some requested packages cannot be installed:
openoffice.org-2.0.4-2.2mdv2007.0.i586 (due to unsatisfied libgstreamer-0 0)
openoffice.org-l10n-es-2.0.4-2.2mdv2007.0.i586 (due to missing openoffice 0.4-2.2mdv2007.0.i586)
Continue installation anyway? (Y/n) y
[root@localhost jon]# urpmi libgstreamer-0.10.so.0
no package named libgstreamer-0.10.so.0
[root@localhost jon]#

I have OpenOffice 2.03, but don't see urpmi giving me the option of installing 2.04]

Urpmi didn't find libgstreamer

Try: urpmi --auto (non-interactive mode, assume default answers to questions).

or

urpmi --auto-select (automatically select packages to upgrade the system).

My Mandriva 64 is exactly the same

I don't know why those open office packages show up because they need that gstreamer package which is not available for 64bit. As for having all other upgrade packages pre-checked, all I do is hit "Quit", then without closing rpmdrake I click on "Check for updates" link and the packages are not pre-selected no more when presented with the list. Once I apply some of them, I do the same thing or else the full bundle (except open office packages) will be pre-checked again.
Install some updates, quit, check for updates, install some of them, quit, check for updates, install.....etc.

It appears to be set to automatically apply updates without your decision, but before it downloads them, it does ask for confirmation and presents a list of all pre-checked packages and their dependencies.

Don't loose sleep over those open office packages, there's nothing wrong with open office the way it is, right?. There are countless security/bug flaws in every package in every OS, only the ones that people trip on and complain about get reported and an update hopefully brushes it off. If you're really paranoid regarding possible security/bug flaws, you should get rid of the computer, then you should be safe.

Or if this is a point of concern, one could report the problem on bugzilla ... (I do not use a 64 bit processor or I would do so).
