The xur17 is having would be something to fo with cd1 because the hdlist that the installer is talking about is on cd1.

That's why I mentioned the CD sequence. Thought there was something asked when to change CD's. I've been trying various flavors of Linux. Use a box solely for that - no other thing fouling up the drive. In installing these I only had trouble when I used existing partitions. Never when erasing the whole drive and beginning anew. Even for example Mandrake 10 over Mandrake 10. Mandrake seems to pick up the hardware with a hitch so you would think it was the CD.

Meant withOUT a hitch. Picks up hardware very well - at least mine..

Lightbulb Problem comes from plugged USB device

Hey,

I had the same problem and after some struggling I found that after removing the USB devices (I had UPS controller usb-cable plugged to the station) the problem with hanging on "looking for available packages..." got fixed.
