Im having a problem installing this on my system. Im trying to install it to a 30gig partition on my 120 gig western digital special edition. Almost everytime it formats the partition, it locks up. If by chance it does make it past formatting, it locks up somewhere around installing the kernel package. I dont have a problem installing Xandros 2.0 on there but I really want to try out Mandrake, I thought that the rc1 would fix my problem since I tried it first on the last beta. Ive seen other people having success installing it on my board, so Id figure you guys could possibly help me out. Here are my specs:

10.0 RC1 is just that - a release candidate. Use a stable release if you want to try it out.

mandrake 9 and 9.2 wouldnt install either, thats why I was forced to try betas, I believe they wouldnt recognize my sata controller

yes yesterday i offically installed the lastest RC1 patch. I have a problem. I
can not seem to be able to open the Configuration Menu in the Welcome Screen,
and on the Kdesktop bar. I am not sure what is it, since i have installed it
fresh, twice now. i have even selected all of the KDE packages, and it still
does not work. I have also noticed u can not select root, on the login screen,
and i am not sure how to be root, in windows x, enless i login as my username,
do su root in console, logout, get to text startup and login as root again,
and startx, but i am not even sure i can do that. Please help me, as since in
this RC1 has been the worst, as in configuration wise. I am stumped on what to
do, and anything will be help. Thanks again, and you can also contact me at
extremefusion@comcast.net since i will not be on Linux till this is resolved.
One more thing, since RC1 came out, and when RC2 comes out, what are the
commands to rsync RC2 to auto-update from RC1. Thanks

P.S. i am also missing alot of things such as koffice and more on the Kdesktop
bar. Please help

After spending countless hours trying to fix this and bios upgrades, I swittched to Libranet 2.7 (Classic) and considering Xandros soon.

About logging in as root in X, you just have to type root as username and the password. It's not listed on the logins because of a security feature.
