mandrake 10.1 installation

i just downloaded and burned the cd isos for mandrake 10.1, when i try to install it shows the install screen and i press enter, it then does a few things and eventually goes to a screen saying "loading program into memory"
a progress bar moves along to just under 1/2 way and then an error dialog opens saying "fatal error finishing initialisation"

when i view the logs it says

btw im a complete n00b to linux and really needs things explained fully, thanks

Sounds like a hardware failure to me. There are progams that run tests for your RAM, disk accesss... Check the CD that came with your motherboard, it may have such a program on it.

Your BIOS may have an option that enabled a memory hole between 14 and 15 MB. Turn that off.

Have you run other operation systems on this computer lately? Did they work fine?

i have had windows xp run on it, but i removed the windows partition through DOS and then created a new partition for linux. i ran the memory test on the linux cd and that passed.

problem solved, run installation in expert mode and loaded correctly...............so far
