Mandrake 10.1 community wireless ?

I have just installed Mandrake 10.1 community on my Dell 600m.

I can't figure out how to get my built in Trumobile 1400 mini PCI Dual Wlan card to work.

I found where to setup "wireless."

I have narrowed down the driver to ipw2100 or ipw 2200, but when i select them it autoprobes them then kicks me back to the previous menu.

Do I have to use ndiswrapper or is there a better solution??

I went to linux on laptops .net and goggled ,but most of the
solutions seemed dated, and I didn't want to mess with ndis* if I didn't have to.

I also had trouble with madrakeupdate today saying my setup was wrong or mirrors where down??????

Nic is working fine out of the "box". Configured itself perfectly.

Thanks,
Blair

Don't have anything for you on the wireless, as I haven't done it yet.

However, for the mirrors for updates go to:

http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/

Follow instructions and you'll have most of the packages that you need. It is rare that I don't find a pack there.

This is the main reason I still stick with mandrake. I have a friend that is a diehard Suse guy, using apt-get, and he can't find or get acidrip to compile. I just did a urpmi acidrip and was done.

Cheers,
Pete

Thanks Pete.

I will check that out when I get back on my work network on Monday.

I am at a loss on the internal wlan card.
I have only setup pcmcia wireless cards.

Seems like a waste of money to go get an Orinoco when I already have a decent card in it.

Regards,
Blair

You'll have to use ndiswrapper or linuxant for your wireless card, the truemobile 1400 is broadcom based (no linux drivers). I had the same problem on my 500m. Here's the thread that helped me out, might help you too

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...07#post1545807

If you go to ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net and thoroughly read the installation wiki, that'll help alot too.
