Lines across screen at Boot Manager - Mdk 9.1
I am a fairly new NEWBIE. I have putzed with Linux for a year or so, but have never adopted it completely. I have a box with a MSI mobo, Anthlon 1800+ CPU, 512 mb ram with Mandrake 9.1 installed (no other OS's installed).
After the boot process but prior to the Mandrake login screen (I presume this is at the boot manager screen), the monitor displays a series of diagonal lines and completely obscurs the boot options. If I wait, this screen times out and goes into the normal boot process. I can also short circuit this wait time by hitting the Enter key.
To me, this sounds like a hardware driver problem where the video card is driving the monitor at a unsupported frequency. But
(1) why does this only happen during the boot options screen, and
(2) how can I fix it?
Any suggestions?
