You need to install the Java Runtime Environment. You can get it at www.java.com . They offer it in source, or a self-extracting .rpm, just follow the instructions and you should easily be able to get it installed.
i downloaded lime wire . i configured my firewalls. the same as my friends. he is able to contect . but i am not able to contect. it tries to contect. but never does.

I hope you don't consider this 'hijacking threads' acid, but where can you get the debian file for J2RE? They only offer the rpms.

There is a tarball available from the sun java site for the distributions that do not support rpm's. The tarball contains a binary installation utility.
