LILO not functioning correctly for Mandrake 8.2, Only prints "07"

Hi,

I recently installed Mandrake Linux on my Compaq Presario S4100NX. I had recently put in a new hard drive, and decided to put linux on it. I formatted it for NTFS. (My Windows XP [home], runs on my original HD, and I also set it up to ask at loading which OS to load. It only had XP and recovery console.) Now, After completing the installation, I waited patiently (crossing my fingers) for it to reboot. Then, it continued on, and it was supposed to show me LILO, but instead, it started printing of many lines containing "07". I was furious. I decided to reinstall (using the "upgrade option in the installer), which I completed again, but it still gave me the same results. So, quite spitefully, I decided to reinstall yet again, but this time, I would run in EXPERT mode. When it can around to ask me about the bootloader, I continued with the defaults. But, I'm sure you can guess what happened next. No show...

So, I concluded that maybe I wasn't allowed to have Windows on one drive and Linux on another? Or even maybe, the two bootloaders were in disagreement over which one should. At any rate, I felt horrible I went ahead and did this, I mean, I had very important files on my machine (source code, customer database, etc...)

I would be extremely happy if anyone at all could figure out what my current situation is, and what would be so probable steps to fixing it. (I don't even care if I don't get linux working!)

Anyway, hope you experts out there can help me.

Thanks,
Frogger

Do you want to recover your Windows bootloader? If so you'll need to reinstall the MBR(Master Boot Record). You can run this command when you opt to "fix" a Windows issue when you run the Windows XP CD.

Nevermind, I ran Compaqs (lifesaver) recovery console, and it sent me back to XP!!! YAAY! Thanks a lot, well, I hate Linux, and that's all that matters (too bad I can't use it though, and support better people, besides the big profitting micro$oft. Oh well....)
