i have a problem with k3b...
first thing, just to let you know im not as too good with linux... im a newbie, still in with the basics.
ok i just recently installed mandrake 10.1 moving from fedora 3...
well the first thing i had problems with opening k3b with previous distrobution... samething happens on fedora... i even tried it on agnula and knoppix and same thing happens...
the problem is that k3b halts on its splash screen at where its say śearching for device.
i did tell me brother whom is more fluent with using linux and he on a fresh boot did search device through terminal in cdrecord and found my cdburner.... so its seems to work that way... but when i come to load k3b its just halts. i do try to kill it from loading but then it seems to be when my brother list device in cdrecord and finds thats itś disapeared...
can any1 help... i could just go use another program which uses cdrecord but i want to know whats up with k3b and is der anyways of fixing my problem...

thank you

yours truly

Go into drakconf and check your hardware. See if the device is recognized as a CD Burner by the OS first.

several thoughts........

can you run k3b as root? open a terminal as root & type k3b (hit enter). if it starts as root, it could be a user/permissions issue.

if i won't run that way, again try running k3b from a terminal witht eh above command (as normal user or root) & post any error output here.

is your cdrom IDE or SCSI? could be an issue pertaining to that.
