Is 10.1 worth downloading? Cause I'm not impressed with 9.1
Hi everyone,
I am currently trying out 9.1 for ppc. It kinda sucks, all kinds of buggy behaviours and apps not working very well or even working.
So before I get too far into downloading 10.1 for ppc just wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with it, and if so, what were their experiences. It'll be going on a 12" iBook.
If you want to keep using Mandrake, you definately should install 10.1. There's an enormous difference between 9.1 and 10.1. It's really worth checking out.
Yes, I do think Mandrake 10.1 is very, very good.
For instance, I connected to the net instantly, after easy config in MCC, the only other distro that has impressed me more for internet access is Mepis : You're connected right out of the box after you plug into the Eth card ! Impressive !
Cheers
I'm new to Linux but I've found Mandrake so far to be incredibly stable on my old, formerly Win98 Dell (I say as I ONCE AGAIN reboot my stalled XP laptop...).
As people say, the net connection worked right away. The desktop is great, RPMDrake makes installing apps really easy, and I've found a working app for everything I need. One CD ripper didn't work for some reason, but I found another one that works great. That's the only issue I've had. I had to write a script to configure my mouse the way I wanted, but getting under the hood like that is one reason I'm interested in Linux.
