Insufficient Rights

A strange problem occurs when I try accessing system options.

Usually I get an password prompt but now I just get an error saying
"Insufficient Rights" and nothing can be done.

I can only access the program using the terminal as root.

What happend ?

thx.

Can you provide more info i.e. What system info are you trying to access? What app (if any) is giving you the error message. When did this problem first occur? Did you update or add any apps?

If you are not getting the root password prompt when you try to start MCC, you can fix the trouble by editing the main menu.

ALT+Click the menu button, then select menu editor in the pop up list of options.

Navigate to System > Configuration > Configure your computer in the menu tree (left).

The command: text entry field (right pane) should contain:
Code:
/usr/sbin/drakconf
If it does, then something else is going on.

Check mark Run as different user: in the right pane.

In the Username: text entry field enter:
Code:
root
To save your changes, open the File menu and select Save.

how to perm fix it

The problem your experiencing is in how you mount your /usr folder. Look in /etc/fstab for your /usr mount point, change it to "defaults 1 1" and reboot. Your insufficient rights will be solved.
