Hi, as you can see by my title, i am a total NEWBIE at Linux, so here's a question. I have a dual boot system with WIN XP on one and a linux partition for mandrake. I was installing Mandrake last night from the 3 cd .iso files that I found on the net (v 10.1) I got thru cd's 1 & 2 no problem and then when it asked for cd 3 I put it in, and it read it for a m inute and then asked for it again. I am assuming that it was just a bad burn of the iso and I will do it again, but my question is this: Do i put in CD1 again to bring up the installer and then just uncheck everything except Cd3 in the install list? If not that, what DO I do? thanks in advance.
Also when it asks for CD number 3, it should also say something like, "If you do not have this CD, click [something or other] to skip it." At least that's what my installations always say.
I believe number 3 contains things that can safely be left out of a basic installation--but you might well find yourself needing them later.
