install using package manager fails every time

I used to be able to install packages using the package manager, but for the last few weeks every time I try to install any package I first get a message telling me rpmdrake needs to update first, then when I confirm it starts to download the files, and in the end I always get the same message saying "installation failed, bad rpm".
Anyone experienced this before? I used easyurpmi to set up my repos so I would assume they are all ok.
I never upgraded to spring 2009.1 by the way, I didnt see the need to do that since it will take so long, but I doubt this is the problem.
Any ideas???

Use urpmi in a terminal window (as root) to update your media sources database with the following command:
Code:
urpmi.update -a
After updating your repositories, try installing rpmdrake with urpmi:
Code:
urpmi rpmdrake
Finally, if these do not eliminate the error, rebuild your rom database:
Code:
rpm --rebuilddb
HTH,

A bad download may be in urpmi's cache. To empty the cache, as root:
Quote:
rm -f /var/cache/urpmi/rpms/*
rm -f /var/cache/urpmi/partial/*

HTH,
After the first two steps, every thing was back to normal, thank you very much for that. Your help was greatly appreciated...
