29007 installed and working really well! But when I try to install new rpms via the manager, by going to the k menu then system, configuration, packaging, install,remove/add software... I type the root password and get the error message "Impossible to run unknown 'install' program", I click ok and every thing work perfectly, but how can I get rid of this message. Its just an annoyance and nothing more, but I would like it to all be right.
St Jimmy, You are not correct. Mandriva is an rpm based distribution originally derived from RedHat.
Richie55, Did you Install or Update to Mandriva 2007? If you did the Update method, your old user menu may be causing this issue ...
In any case, open the menu editor (ALT+CLICK the K-menu, then select Menu editor in the resulting menu). Open the System, Configuration, then Packaging sub-trees. Highlight 'Install, Remove & Update Software'. The 'command:' text field should contain '/usr/sbin/rpmdrake' (no quotes). Also, the option to 'Run as a different user' should be checked, and the 'User Name' should contain 'root'.
Ernie - Thanks it worked, I Did a full install not am update. Not sure what was happening, but the command I replaced when following your instructions was /usr/bin/drakconf --start-with="Install Software" just if your intrested.
