I'm lost !!!...trying to use spamassassin :(

Ok, I used rpmdrake to install spamassassin.....

...now what???

What am I supposed to do? All the readme's I've seen talk in a different language -- Perl, I think. Is that all necessary for us Mandrake users (and newbies like me)? Is there a simple how-to to get this running and configured to my liking?

This worked for me. Or you may want to try thunderbird.

Junk Email Evolution 2.0

If you are looking to filter spam or junk email with Evolution 2.0, you may want to review the documentation at Novell's Evolution page..

When email arrives. click the Junk button to identify Junk Email.

Go to Tools->Filters and click to add a new filter. From the drop-down list choos "Junk Test." Then select, "Message is Junk" to the right.

Create a new folder to hold spam email. In the lower box, choose to move the junk email to the new folder.

Are we supposed to leave the identified junk mail in the Junk folder for the Junk filter to work, or is it okay to delete it? I've been deleting it, but the Junk tool doesn't seem to work well. Should I leave it there?

addendum: it seems that it is okay to delete messages from the junk folder. Spamassassin seems to be working quite well now.

Mark, I am running 2.0+ and the instructions seem not to require anything special for spam filtering to function; all you seem to have to do is teach it what spam is by clicking the junk button while a spam message is highlighted, but I still get spam unabated no matter how much I teach it. Spam always shows up in my inbox and never in my junk box. I can't figure it out.
