I am having trouble with gimp and xsane not recognizing the hp 1210 printer. Mandrake 10 had the appropriate drivers. The hp is usb printer but configuration shows it as being on parallel port 0. I have a regular hp deskjet printer on the same port. It works fine and is listed as the default printer. Would appreciate help on how to configure the 1210 printer so that I could have the option of using either one.
Thanks in advance
John
bump-
just wanted to get this one alive again. I have the same model PSC1210. Printing works beautifully. I read somewhere quite some time ago that scanning could be done, but you had to switch the driver by some command line option. Can't seem to rememeber where i read that.
Hello myk
Soon after post I had to reinstall everything. When it came to the psc, i made sure all the drivers were updated versions. After adding the printer this time, everything has worked great. I can scan from gimp or xsane. I also have hp deskjet running as a second printer. You might start by checking hp for latest drivers: [url]http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=bpu00659&product=90764&dlc=en&lang=en. HP does not list the linux drivers with windows and mac drivers. They provide a link to sourceforge for the driver. Hope this helps.
