How to turn off 3-D effects from safe mode, locked out system !

Does anyone know how to turn off 3-D effects from safe mode please ?

Everytime I try to login to GNOME the X-server resets preventing me from accessing the system...guess the effects are not compatible with my NVIDIA graphics card.

Thanks !

Ok, fixed it eventually by tooling about with xorg.conf a bit..

Does anyone have any idea to make these effects work with NVIDIA cards..I'm using the driver from the NVIDIA website.

Thanks.

What card do you use and what kind of effects do you want to enable (beryl, compiz)

well first off all make sure your driver works correctly and then you can set you're 3d effects in the MCC (mandriva control center) and you can fine tune those setting using the apropiate configuration tool for it like beryl-manager for beryl. well I'm not really familiar with compiz (I use beryl) but you should have a configuration tool for it to it should be someting like that gnome-compiz-preferences

Driver works fine as as far as I can tell ie. I can set the correct resolution etc which I couldn't do with the generic driver that came with Mandriva...

Switching on the 3D effects from the Mandriva control centre is how my system was messed up in the first place..just tried to access 3D effect and when I clicked it in the Mandriva control centre the X_server reset..

To be honest I think I'll stay away from it.

Compiz also made me to troubles that's why I recomend you to use beryl it works like a charm don't be afraid where you set up to use the 3d you should have on option for beryl to. After I started using 3d with beryl I cant imagine a desktop without that... hey you know that n*ke comercial; just do it......
and don't forget the first time when you tried it you're driver was not working correctly.... so it souldn't be a problem now....
