Angry How do I get rid of UTC (timezone problem)

OK, this is bugging the bejesus outa me.

My hardware clock is set to local time (for Windows), but when I set the time/date in KDE, the current timezone is set to UTC, and any attempts to change it come up with an error saying "error setting new timezone"

Any help appreciated.

In KDE menu select configuration and find linuxconf.

Run this and select the control tab, then date and time.

There is a button to tell the system you are clock is set to GMT or not. Deselect it if your clock is set to local time.

That should do it.

Thanks for the tip, but it seems that I had bigger problems ... The partition table was corrupted, so I applied the "sledgehammer approach" and reinstalled.

Thank God I do regular backups to a different drive It seems that it saved my bacon.
