Help, LOL. I am using Blackbox and Mandrake 10.1 Official

I decided to do a semi-minimal install. I wanted to get more familiar
with the basics in Linux in general. Now I am having two problems. I installed
Mozilla through urpmi and it shows up on the Blackbox menu. But it will
not work when I click on it. The second problem is I installed the new
Mozilla firefox and it installed, it even started right after it installed.
but now when I type in firefox, with the appropiate path, nothing happens.
I am lost and I am not familiar enough with Lynx, what I am using now, to do the right
kind of searches.

Second problem is how do I edit the Blackbox menu so I can add other
programs I install myself? I did figure out how to edit Lynx so my
startup page was something other then the default that came with it.
Thanks. Any help would be appreciated.

Opent xterm from your blackbox menu and type "mozilla-firefox" (without the quotes) and see whether that loads firefox.

The blackbox menu can probably be edited in ~/.blackbox/menu (if it's the same as fluxbox) --- the syntax is simple when you look at it long and hard. You may have to point the .init to your user menu ---- open .blackbox/init (again, if it's the same as fluxbox ) and look for a line referring to the menu.

I tried that with Firefox. What I did was chmod 777 firefox. I didn't want to do that but I didn't have much of a choice, I was frustrated. I think the problem was that I could only install it as root. It wouldn't let me do it as user and I thought I had all the correct permissions set, wheel, etc. Guess not.

Thanks. I will look and see if there is a menu entry in ./blackbox. Also do you know if there was a problem with LQ last night, around 2-7am(EST) / 6-11am(GMT) maybe later then that? I couldn't access LQ from linux or windows at all during that time.
