I am a new Mandriva user. I have used Ubuntu and openSUSE before. I used URPMI to add sources to my Mandriva One 2007 Gnome installation, but I can't find popular programs that I used to have like Firefox 2.0, Amarok, Wine, etc.... I made sure that I selected the PLF (Penguin Liberation Front, funny name!) sources to get the non-OSS programs.
What shall I do?
Also what is this about URPMI and SMART? Is it a different way to manage packages? I am still not fully experienced in Linux yet.
Mdv2007 has Firefox 1.5.0.8 - there is currently no rpm for Firefox 2. You'll have to install it from Mozilla tar.gz.
Amarok, Wine... are on 'main' - you have to configure your urpmi source for 'main', 'main_updates', and 'contrib'.
The only Firefox 2 currently for Mandriva is in cooker...When they release 2007.1 it will be in there along with Gnome 2.18 Open Office 2.1 and a few other updates.
