I have been a linux newbie for years.
Just managed to d/l mandriva LE 2005 3 iso files; burnt to CDs and installed.
My broadband ISP gave me a Prolink Hurricane 9000C modem; howto I get it connected to Internet.
TIA
Regards.
Connect the modem to your nic. Turn on dhcp and the nic should configure to the modem. You can use MCC to do this. To veiw the modem, open a browser and type http://10.0.0.2 This should bring up a screen that asks for a username, enter "admin" and a password, enter "password". To verify connection you can also ping the modem at the same address.
I am in more trouble than I asked for: login-ed on localhost and was trying to configure modem; MDK asked for root passwd; typed in as what I have recorded during installation, message on screen 'passwd not accepted'
Thinking I might have pressed the wrong key; I try all night with possibles.
Still no login. Since I did not create a bootdisk during installation. MDK did not 'ask'. Do I have to re-install to get back my 'root passwd' ? BTW, re-install is no big deal, because I do not have any user data inthere yet.
4.2.3 ?
I 'lost touch' with this url for a long time. There is revision, now I have to d/l and print again; in 2002 I had to turn every page to have duplex printing, now I can have auto duplex printing with Canon.
I am still struggling; having solved the root passwd problem I was trying to configure my ADSL modem on ethernet card. Spent all night and no result. While do so I 'activated' ppp0, since it does not connect, system hang trying to bring up ppp0. Howto kill it ?
