Connect the modem to your nic. Turn on dhcp and the nic should configure to the modem. You can use MCC to do this. To veiw the modem, open a browser and type http://10.0.0.2 This should bring up a screen that asks for a username, enter "admin" and a password, enter "password". To verify connection you can also ping the modem at the same address.

connect to Internet after installation

Thank you ,

I am in more trouble than I asked for: login-ed on localhost and was trying to configure modem; MDK asked for root passwd; typed in as what I have recorded during installation, message on screen 'passwd not accepted'

Thinking I might have pressed the wrong key; I try all night with possibles.

Still no login. Since I did not create a bootdisk during installation. MDK did not 'ask'. Do I have to re-install to get back my 'root passwd' ? BTW, re-install is no big deal, because I do not have any user data inthere yet.

Regards.

My old mind 'tells' me ever read somehwere, there is a way to
overcome this, but having a hard time locating that info.

Finally, it is in "Linux Newbie Administrator Guide" which I d/l and printed on 11 Sept 2002. Section 3.2.3 : I forgot the root password.

Following instructions wherein. Changed the root passwd.
Tested OK.

Regards to All

4.2.3 ?
I 'lost touch' with this url for a long time. There is revision, now I have to d/l and print again; in 2002 I had to turn every page to have duplex printing, now I can have auto duplex printing with Canon.

Thank you for the info.
Regards

I am still struggling; having solved the root passwd problem I was trying to configure my ADSL modem on ethernet card. Spent all night and no result. While do so I 'activated' ppp0, since it does not connect, system hang trying to bring up ppp0. Howto kill it ?
