Ive d/l the codecs and .wmv files play fine but I still get some videos that wont play . They are .mpeg files ,some play fine some I get no sound and no pics?
Don't know the fix for you, but here is a possible workaround. For some strange reason I sometimes come across that. If it don't work in Kaffeine, I'll try it in mplayer and usually it will work, sometimes works the other way around as well. I have even come across this with the odd rented movie. If the offending movies are ones you view in forums or on websites, try the mplayer pluggin for firefox, it rarely lets me down.
re: Can Kaffeine read *.wmv files?
I don't know, can't people search and find this question is already answered scores of times?
Ahh Yes but the trick for a newbie is ¨what should I be searching for ..you have a base knowledge on which you have a vague idea at least as to what is involved and what the search should look for. You are assuming that everyone will intuitively know where to go and I can assure you coming in cold is bloody mindboggling .
Thats why I try to throw in an answer where I can as I am closer to being a newbie ..no offence intended.
Lakota - Thanks I did D/L MPlayer from plf and you are right . the movies that would not play now do . And I prefer MPlayer to Kaffein with its bullshit self advertising and its persistance until you spend time to get rid of it.
KimVette- A bit more to it than that . Where to go to when you get 8 Million sites. But you do what pleases you . You dont need to post and chastise , just leave it to someone else . Patience is a virtue isnt it
