i'm running madrake 10 official, with kernel 2.6.1 and an NVIDIA card.
i can get to the graphical login screen, but once i select a user and enter the password the screen flashes blue and it kicks me back to the graphical login screen.
if i alt+ctrl+f1 and login to the prompt, i can run KDE from there and i get the desktop fine. it shows the NVIDIA splash screen and then gets me to the desktop.

Hi,
Are you using KDM as a "login manager"? If so, you could try this:-
As root, navigate to /usr/share/config/kdm and rename the file kdmrc to something like kdmrc.old.
Then rename the current backup file kdmrc~ to kdmrc. Now reboot.
If this does not work, then kdm is broken. You could login then from your init 3 session, and under mandys control centre> window manager, choose gdm and use that instead.
