hi,
as most of you found out, by appending this line acpi=ht nolapic in /etc/lilo.conf, ur mdk 9.2 box will be able to power down normally.
but here's something i've been wondering, is it "mandrake" problem? or its kernel problem? i've been always having power down issues since mdk 8.2 to now (9.2), and i always --thought-- it is mdk problem. until last week when i install slack 9.1, i encounter the same power down problem again.
due to the fact that slack caused me the same power down issue, i conclude it is kernel problem, so that leads me to my second question (which is the main concern)....
since which patch file in kernel 2.4, acpi has been "fixed"?
i bring this question up is because i'm seriously disappointed at mdk9.2, no offense, but its the worst OS mdk ever made in my opinion. and i've decided to go back to 9.0 (which kernel was 2.4.16)
if its simply kernel problem, i should be able go back to mdk 9.0, compile the newest 2.4 kernel, and get power down issue fixed by appending acpi=ht nolapic in /etc/lilo.conf.
just like to hear your thoughts on this, thanks
