9.2 install error

when installing mandrake 9.2 I get the following error:

"Could not uncompress second stage ramdisk, this is probably an hardware error while reading the data."

"error in exec of stage 2
trying to execute /usr/bin/runinstall2 from installation volume
Fatal error in stage 1 : I/O error
I cannot recover from this"

any ideas?

I hope I havent just wasted a lot of time downloading these isos!

after reading other posts i decided to try installing from my dvd-rom instead of my cdrw, but for some weird reason CD1 is not readable with my dvdrom drive, where as CD2 can be read by both dvdrom and cdrw, both CD's were burned the same method..weird.

I'd do a check with md5sum on those ISOs to make sure they downloaded properly.

That's always the first thing I check when there's a problem (and after a few problems, its now the thing I check first before burning hehe)

ok I found the problem then,

CD2 md5sum matches however CD1 does not, so this was a wasted download? or can it be fixed?

you need to redownload CD1 sorry...

As far as I know (which isn't all that much) you can't "fix" an iso that's corrupted while downloading...you can just redownload it.
