Question Unable to access MCC on Mageia 5

Fresh install of Mageia 5 on a brand new hard drive I installed on an old HP Pavilion dv7.
Everything except the printer seemingly worked right after install. I was tickled. Easiest install ever.

Start customizing immediately and added a few packages in MCC. All downloaded fine, compiz fusion asked for a log out/in to take effect, so I did that. When I logged back in, I could see the new packages I installed and started to modify compiz. Was able to set it up how I wanted (or so I thought). Logged back out/in again to see changes and ...nothing.

Used to really like the pretty effects, but if it doesn't work, no biggie, I can live without it. So I went to MCC to uninstall it. Authentication required to log into MCC did not accept my password. I tried both my user password and root password, neither worked. Logged out and logged back in as root.

Tried to access MCC as root, authentication failed again. I don't know what other password it could possibly want. I didn't set any up.

There were other packages that were installed, but the compiz fusion seems to be the only one that didn't run as expected. Otherwise, this system seems to be working well, and I'm really pleased with it.

Any ideas? Access to MCC is kinda important.

By MCC, I assume you mean the Mageia Control Center, also known as /usr/bin/drakconf?

It seems to be working okay on my system.

Try opening a terminal, su-ing to root, and running drakconf from the command line.

Nice.. I also have the same issue, I just haven't had time to diagnose the problem. Thanks for posting the solution.
