As it happens I am running a 64 bit version of Mageia 4.1 to be inexact however that still does not get me any closer to a solution. Question, and it may be a simple one, do I left click on the 'rpm4opera' link or would I right click then either 'copy link address' or 'save link content as, then there is; 'save to Downloads folder'? I have tried the options all, but still get nowhere.

jkerr82508, What exactly did you do to get it to work for you?

Ruari's Thoughts, he instructs to download the rpm4opera then make it executable. Well as I discovered and as I imagine some others have found the link is not conducive for downloading. At least I found no 'download' options 'right' clinking the rpm4opera link. You left click on the link and as you find out it opens to the 'GitHub page with the script laid out before you, so where do you go from there?

On the git page that is opened by the link, click on the "Raw" button near the top right. This will result in the page being rendered as plain text. Then save that page, as rpm4opera.

I will have to try that. Unfortunately it may need to be done on another Mageia. The one I had been using became slow and unresponsive. I rebooted and the whole shebang crashed on me. I could not get it to load for me. After the better part of an hour I gave up and installed Manjaro. I took some screen shots of what my desktop looked like. I seem at the moment to be having some trouble with photobucket, when I get it straightened out I'll post the photo.

Yes, you need a 64-Bit system to run Opera 26. Start a terminal and issue the following (you will need "git" and "rpm-build" installed):

Code:
git clone https://gist.github.com/3ed0d3a6c0764c4ae9f9.git
bash 3ed0d3a6c0764c4ae9f9/rpm4opera --stable
At the end you should have the following file "/var/tmp/opera-stable-26.0.1656.60-0.x86_64.rpm". Alternatively this rpm that I created for Fedora should work on Mageia as well.

Well there is the big button that says, "Download Gist". If you click on that you download an archive called something like, gist3ed0d3a6c0764c4ae9f9-*.tar.gz and if you unpack this you get similarly named directory containing the rpm4opera script.

Hi, I've been away too.

I used to use alien to install .deb packages

it's in the mga5 repos

as root...
alien -r -i -s /full/path/to/file/packagename.deb

I used it especially for steam (for games like counterstrike)

All the best, Regards Glenn

Alien is a second rate solution when a dedicated script is being offered.

As it turns out, I won't be using any method with Mageia seeing how Mageia crashed major on me. The screen froze like it was digitized with broken lines across the screen. Tried rebooting but could not get past the initial sign on screen. I downloaded a fresh ISO of Mageia 4.1, but even after checking the MD5SUM, it crashed on me as I was trying to log into the system.

I did not try a third ISO version and returned to using Manjaro. I like Mageia, but right now I am somewhat gun shy to try another ISO burned to DVD.

I appreciated the help that was offered.
