Why doesn't the blog section contain an option to create a blog post?

Hi

New to the site. received a mail today suggesting that I create a blog here, which I'm agreeable to.

When I go to the My blog section though I can't see any option to create a blog post. Lots of options to view my non existent posts and a section on how to control access and comments etc. but no way to create a post...

Anyone know how this is achieved?

Perhaps I'm being dense but some sort of guidance on the page would seem like a good idea.

When you say "received a mail today suggesting that I create a blog here, which I'm agreeable to.", do you mean you got "mail" from the LQ site/domain ? Because something really isn't making sense here - or I'm missing something.

In any case, this isn't the right forum for this thread, so I'll ask for it to be moved to the LQ S&F forum. Don't start a new thread though, just keep using this thread.

He's probably referring to the LQ Community Bulletin.

OP, on the left-hand side of the page, there should be an option called Your Blog. Click that and it'll take you to your actual blog. Then there should be an option to Post to your Blog.

Thanks guys,

Now I feel like a complete numpty because it's there right enough.

I would splutter and protest that it wasn't there when I spent ten minutes looking for it earlier but perhaps it's time to admit the dementia is kicking in...

Thanks for the help.

Brad

Not necessarily dementia. There is a wise proverb: The best place to hide something is under a person's nose.
Also, the more functions there are to choose from the easier it is to overlook something. Unfortunately, on today's internet even the simplist pages are usually fairly complex. I often spend lots of time searching for main things on suposedly intuitive sites. Like searching high and low through all the information presented trying to find the download icon. Really annoying.

Hi Randicus,

Awesome name by the way!

Yes this is a common bugbear for me, especially as my eyesight is now really bad and I can't seem to just upgrade my glasses anymore to get good vision back. So tiny links like that aren't very accessible for us old geezers.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll try to find some time now to post something useful.

I find most websites unusable and poorly designed.

For example, I like these websites:

https://www.openbsd.org/
https://netbsd.org/
http://www.slackware.com/
https://www.archlinux.org/
https://www.debian.org/

No annoying scripts, no massive buttons, no massive images and pointless propaganda, no tiny banners with menus where what you want is almost impossible to find. Just links, information and what you need right there.

Compared to this load of nonsense:

https://www.redhat.com/en/technologi...terprise-linux
https://getfedora.org/
https://www.ubuntu.com/
https://www.opensuse.org/
