We cannot edit after sometime?

After a thread getting longer than initially expected, I decided that it should have another name to reflect the changes. I could not find the edit button for my first post there (and also for the other ones).

Is it forbidden due a timeout, or something like that?

I think it should not be, since a good title improves our chances to find things when we need.

+1, I too would prefer not having a limit (though I personally haven't bumped into it much in practice). See also Why can't I edit my post?

I think the limit was added after somone got angry and went through all their posts and edited them to be empty.

The bad extreme cases can be avoided fairly easy. And in my case I only wanted to change the title to something more meaninful to what the thread has become.

Use the "report" button on your original post, suggest the edit, then one of my fellow moderators will tend to it, no problem.

Someone somewhere is a terrorist, now we all have to take off the shoes and go thru a metal detector.

Done. Now it should be just a few days (at most) for it to be changed.
