Uploading files to LQ

I was wondering if it's possible to have a feature where by, LQ members could upload say source code files, software packages, etc, similar to the "iso.linuxquestions.org" site?

If say, someone posts a question about coding for example (but not necessarily limited to) and other members have some code of their own, that they feel could benefit the OP (or others) in some way.

Just a thought and one for the suggestion box.

You can upload files (including .txt containing code) using the "Attach Files" section on the "New Post" page.

Yes, but a more dedicated place like iso.linuxquestions.org (more similar to). As, for example you can't upload certain file types though the "Attach Files" option.

Is there any plans for that kind of option?

LQ ISO does not allow file uploads of any kind. What, specifically, are you looking to accomplish that isn't possible now?

Re post #3, @jsbjsb001.

Text files with no suffix .txt cannot be attached, but easy to add suffix .txt (to any file) :
file.cc → file.cc.txt
file.tcl → file.tcl.txt
file.tar.gz → file.tar.gz.txt

Like for example (but not limited to), if I had a software package that I built myself and I wanted to share it, so others could download it from LQ (or anything else). As once again, only some file types can currently be uploaded with the "Attach Files" option.

@knudfl That's not what I'm talking about and I know you can change the file extension.

As there are much more appropriate places than LQ for that functionality, we have no plans to add it at this time. Thanks for the feedback.
